The overall jury´s verdict to the submissions:


The competition shows that photographers from all over Europe predominantly prefer subjects that show "real" life, "real" people and "real" situations. All in all the photos appear realistic, true to life and not staged. It is evident that the photographers best shots were made for themselves or as a personal memento. Thus, for example there are many good images in the category "people". The competition once again illustrates how much photography - with its infinite possibilities - attracts and enthuses people throughout Europe.

The Jury's opinion:

1st Prize:

The winning photo was taken in Romania and stands out because of its uncompromising view of life. The subject is touching, genuine and is charged with emotion. The dancing couple radiates incomparable joy and happiness. The details in this picture interact in perfect harmony: whether it be the textile pattern of the clothing, that of the furnishings or the colour of the wallpaper. A perfect composition, the sum of which would be a lot poorer by the absence of just one of these elements.

2nd Prize:

The runner-up comes from Hungary. The photo appeals because of its special angle of perspective and because it exudes a certain mystique. It feels like a stage set or a 19th Century painting. Although devoid of people, the photo is full of life. Through the clever play of light and shadow, the unusual perspective, and a multitude of details, the photographer has managed to tell an entire story in a snapshot.

3rd Prize:
The picture from Germany wins third place thanks to its clever composition: The backlit setting creates an interesting mood. In addition the diagonal perspective creates depth and makes the photo exciting and draws the viewer in. All the elements combined together with the photo´s subject matter lend an air of contagious vitality and dynamism.
